adaqiying’s wǒmen in war(s) speaks to community struggles and the ways in which connection might help us find relief.

“I think to show a gender-neutral Asian kid’s face to the artwork in NYC is important. It is not just identity and representation. ” acclaimed by the artist. The artwork includes largescale portraits of the artist suspended from the ceiling, sculpturally cascading through the gallery, as well as graffiti painting, paper cutting, and an 11-minute original video montage. “As a Chinese filmmaker, I try to use video as my activist tool.”

The artwork comes at a historically significant moment, as women in the United States find that their right to choose has been rescinded and their bodies are the site of social and political warfare. The theme of the exhibition connects challenges experienced both domestically and abroad; the artist highlights the many wars we experience both within and around us every day, with a special emphasis on women’s resilience.
